A Chinese carved ivory boy and buffalo ornament, Qing Dynasty, 19th century finely carved with a boy trying to raise himself up onto the back of a recumbent water buffalo with engraved body, inlaid eyes and a carved shallow recess on its back, possibly a stand for inkstone or a small brush washer, the elephant ivory trunk section in patinated yellow tone with age cracks, unmarked to the flat base, height 2.5 cm, width 7.5 cm
