Sterling silver Coma necklace and earrings set, by Mexican modernist silver smith Antonio Pineda. Ca 1950's. The necklace is approximately 39 cm long and features twleve 29 mm x 20 mm, flexible links each bezel set with one 10 mm round cabochon cut amethyst, secured with a 'U' shaped clasp, the center link is hallmarket with the silver smiths crown seal, accompanied by matching clip on earrings each 29 mm x 20 mm. Finished weight 127.5 grams. Antonio Pineda was born and raised in Taxco, Mexico where he founded his own Taller after first apprenticing with William Spratling. He is considered one of the masters of Mexican modernist jewelry and one of the most notable designers to have emerged from the Mexican silver renaissance of the 20th century.
