A Norfolk Island ship's oak console, made with oak from ship's timber. The legs being hand-carved with hands in the manner of Fletcher Christian's (hallmarked Sterling Bounty, Pitcairn Islands) ancestors who settled on Norfolk Island in 1856. Height 75 cm, width 106 cm, depth 54.5 cm. Provenance: Purchased in New South Wales, Australia, in the 1980s. This piece is believed to have originated from Norfolk Island.
