Description:
A chest of drawers from Actor James Coburn's home, C. 1810, Spain. Spanish Empire mahogany chest with carved vine leaves up each corner, the leaves are polychrome and gilded. The chest is supported by two mythological polychrome and gilded dragons. Height 90 cm, width 123 cm, depth 62 cm, Provenance: formerly belonging to American actor James Coburn. The chest of drawers is visible in the two images of Coburn's Hollywood home. In the 1960s, artist and interior design Antony Duquette furnished Coburn's Spanish colonial revival house. Later restorations were carried out in Duquette's La workshop, including the marble top and edging. In 2014, furnishings from Coburn's were auctioned off with the estate of Duquette's sister.
