Rare Persian Sipar shield finely wrought of delicately-patterned Persian wootz steel, with rolled rim and domed center, inlaid in gold. With four domed grip bosses with scalloped edges, likewise inlaid in gold; the reverse retains its padded cushion. Finely detailed and executed overall. Late 18th-early 19th century. Diameter 26 cm.
