A large pair of Japanese Satsuma vases, early Showa period, c1930s, the high shouldered baluster shaped vase with a short neck with a rolled rim, in raised enamels and gilt upon a matte brown ground with diapered pattern ground to the collar, the body finely decorated with the female deity Kannon and six attendants, the collar with shimazu crests and raised on a small flared foot; stamped with characters underside.
