A large Japanese Satsuma vase, early Showa period, c1930s, the high shouldered baluster shaped vase with a short neck with a rolled rim, in muted hues, raised enamels and gilt upon a matte black ground with lotus patterns to the collar, the body depicting the female deity Kannon and four attendants, the collar with shimazu crest and raised on a small flared foot; stamped 'Made in Japan' and signed with characters underside. Height 32.5 cm
