A Victorian John Wood brass and mahogany cased marine chronometer, the silvered dial with Roman numerals and two subsidiary dials for seconds and 'Up Down'; with maker's name and Southampton address. In brass gimballed frame. Traditional quality mahogany case with recessed brass fittings. Dial diameter 11.5 cm or 4½ inches. The case 17 x 17 x 17 cm. With later applied plaque 'May Queen 1887'. Working and with key.
