A George III silver pair cased pocket watch by J. Tarts of London (active 1755-90). Inner case hallmarked London 177, the outer case repousse with classical figures and scrolls, some distress. Bullseye glazed, fret cut fancy dial with engraved maker's name, gilded date aperture, Roman hours and Arabic minutes. Fusee movement with maker's name and numbered 8515. Note: We have been informed that there are three similar watches in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, these examples do not have the date feature.
