A late 18th century miniature portrait, of a woman, by a. Charles (1768-c.1810) watercolour, signed 'A. Charles R.A', 4 x 3 cm, housed in gilt metal pendant frame. Mr a. Charles was appointed painter to the Prince of Wales in 1793, and his works are quite finely executed if somewhat naive. He referred to himself as a Royal Academecian in advertisments from this period onwards.
