Sir Edmund Barton (1849-1920, 1st Prime Minister of Australia), letter posted from England in 1901, with the address taking the form of a cigarette card 'Sir Edmund Barton, first Premier of the Commonwealth of Australia', after receiving the letter (and paying 3d Postage Due!), Barton autographed the envelope and returned it to the sender in England. On the back he made the notation 'Not Sir' to indicate the photo on the cigarette card had an incorrect inscription as at that time he had not been knighted
