Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912) gilt bronze Samurai Archer on horseback, beautifully cast in two sections, the samurai with a steely look on his face and dressed in full armour with a breastplate bearing a gilt dragon medallion, depicted holding a bow and arrow, with detachable sword at waist, with both feet in stirrups, set upon a galloping stallion with heavily tasseled harness, signed Gyoko saku, the whole set within a carved wooden foliate base, total height 48 cm (including bow) and length of base 47 cm
