A fine bronze sculpture of Icarus by Georges Colin (1876-1917), 'Le vol d'Icare' (1907), circa 1910. Depicting a large silvered & gilt bronze Icarus with spread wings standing on his toes, his body leaning forward to jump off a Cliff, all raised on a stepped portoro marble base, signed 'Colin George' to the drapery & stamped 'Syndicat des Fabricants de bronze 1818 France', the Cliff inscribed 'A notre President Gustave Bachle' & dated 25 Oct 1930. Originally commissioned to G. Colin for a public monument in honour of Santos Dumont. H: 40 cm, W: 37 cm
