An early and uncommon Chinese sancai glazed tiger and rider, in the style of the Tang Dynasty, on a thin plinth base shaped to conform with the paw's positions, the rider sits holding a whisk and jar. The group probably represents the tiger taming Louhan Fuhu. Rich amber glaze with stained craquelure, repairs to neck and legs, length 3 cm
