An Asprey's, London lidded box, with painted ivory panel to the top depicting Leda and the Swan. The sides with red tortoiseshell finish embellished with gilt brass mouldings including a laurel wreath and ribbon mount to the front, the lozenge shaped painted panel signed indistinctly lower left (Hardy') set on a dark green velvet ground. The interior with quarter book-matched kingwood veneers, the hinge engraved Asprey, London. 23 x 18 x 7 cm. Very small split to ivory panel.
