A superb Scottish sterling silver presentation salver, circular shape, the wide border decorated with flowers and leaves, shells, scrolls and masks, on 4 scroll feet, the centre engraved with foliage and scrolls, the inscription reads, presented by the Gentlemen Whose names are Hereon inscribed (on the reverse in 6 rows from top to bottom) to James Hardie Esquire in Testimony of his Faithful and important Services as Superintendent of Police of this city, Glasgow 1826.
