A superb Scottish sterling silver presentation salver, circular shape, the wide border decorated with flowers and leaves, shells, scrolls and masks, on 4 scroll feet, the centre engraved with foliage and scrolls, the inscription reads, presented by the Gentlemen Whose names are Hereon inscribed (on the reverse in 6 rows from top to bottom) to James Hardie Esquire in Testimony of his Faithful and important Services as Superintendent of Police of this city, Glasgow 1826. Hallmarks for Glasgow 1821, makers Mitchell & Sons, 52 cm dia, approx 3.7kg
