Campaign Medal awarded to an Australian soldier: Egypt medal with Suakin 1885 clasp, awarded to '1205. Gun: J. Crombie. N.S.W. Arty:' with part ribbon. The New South Wales Contingent, comprising just over 700 men, was the first government backed action and is regarded as Australia's first true war contingent. Crombie served in the field battery.
