We are not certain which event this Gold Medal was awarded for, it would have been one of the 4 x 220 yard men's freestyle swimming relay final held on 23 November 1962, the 440 yard men's freestyle swimming final held on 27 November 1962, or the 4 x 110 yard men's freestyle swimming relay final held on 28 November 1962. The obverse embossed '19 [imperial crown] 62 VII British Empire and Commonwealth Games Perth Western Australia' surrounded by a pentagonal chain of rectangular links. The reverse embossed with a wreath of kangaroo paw flowers and leaves surmounted by the coat of arms of the city of Perth. Embossed to the bottom edge 'K. G. Luke.
