A Japanese bronze okimono of a Buddhist lion; Edo period (1603-1868), 18th/19th century; modelled in the style of a Chinese Buddhist guardian lion with angry face, adorned with ribbons and bells and with a flaming tail. Fine old deep brown patina. 19 cm high, 15 cm wide; Provenance: The Crowle collection, Northern New South Wales.
