A rare Chinese Dehua censer with lion mask handles; Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), Qianlong period; of elegant compressed bombe form covered in an ivory-hued glaze, with very finely carved and incised Buddhist guardian lion face handles to either side, the footrim glazed and the base unglazed. Together with a fitted pierced Japanese silver lid, and an old inscribed Japanese wooden box. The censer 3.75 cm high, 11.25 cm diameter; Provenance: Private Collection, Melbourne.
