A large Japanese bronze hibachi, taisho period (1912-1926) with a slightly everted rim bracketed by a pair of loop handles formed by stylized twin phoenixes and raised on four animal mask scrolled feet, each of the sloping side panels cast in relief with a chimerical qilin on diaper pattern ground within shaped reserves, the rim with Chinese key fret border; used as a planter, the interior with verdigris patination.
