A 19th century Persian Nishapur glazed earthenware plate, persia, Nishapur area, c. Late 18th to early 19th century., the slightly concave Islamic glazed plate, traditionally painted in limonite manganese-based pigments, the broad rim with pseudo-Kufic script between thin borders, the sloping walls below with a band of panels with brocade pattern divided by thick walls, the central roundel with intricate stylised vegetal design on a carbon black ground of tight scrolls.
