A Mino Raincape, Japan, late 19th century. Mino were often worn by samurai or fishermen over the body to repel rain from armour or clothing. Made from densely layered strips of plant materials that are meticulously and tightly hand-woven into place. This mino is made up of a upper caplette and a skirt secured with ties at the front.
