A turtle-shaped tanoa kava bowl, Fiji, kava bowls are used in the preparation of yaqona (kava). Kava is prepared by pounding yaqona root in to a powder and then water is added and the pounder is strained out of the liquid. This tanoa is carved from a single piece of wood in the form of a turtle. The bowl is deep and sits on four legs. Height 20.8 cm, width 50 cm, depth 65 cm
