A large and impressive kava bowl, Fiji, kava bowls are used in the preparation of yaqona (kava). Kava is prepared by pounding yaqona root in to a powder and then water is added and the pounder is strained out of the liquid. This large kava bowl is carved from a single piece of wood. It features four raised legs, however one is broken causing the bowl to be on a lean. Featuring a long plaited sennit cord and large cowrie shells. Height 23 cm, depth 79.5 cm
