A Kali Hahapo headrest, Tonga, late 19th century. Placed under the head or the back of a neck whilst sleeping. Carved fom a single piece of wood. This kali features a thin neck rest with a deep concavity. The two curved legs flare outwards towards the base. Remnants of a dark patina are observable at the underside of the kali.
