I'e barkcloth beater, Tonga, used to pound inner strips of mulberry tree bark into large sheets for producing tapa cloth. Carved from a single piece of hardwood. A long form with a square cross section that tapers to the handle. Three sides of the i'e have long incised grooves running up the shaft. Evidence of white pigment throughout the form. Length 34.5 cm, width 6 cm
