A taiaha, Aotearoa. A superb taiaha of fine proportions. With an aggressively extended arero (tongue) and fine upoko (head), completely decorated with a series of double and triple haehae with dog-tooth notched spirals. The body extends to a bold flared striking handle making this taiaha fine example of contact-period weaponry. A rich dark patina highlights the extremities and helps show the intricate nature of the carving. Presented on a custom stand. Length 133.5 cm, width 6 cm, depth 3.5 cm, on stand height 143 cm.
