A 19th century taiaha, Aotearoa, with a deeply carved arero with Pakati Haehae designs. The upoko features four intact paua shell eyes. With historical repairs to the blade end featuring old iron nails. Carved from a hardwood with a deep brown patina. Length 148.2 cm, width 7.3 cm. Provenance: Private Collection, Aotearoa. Brought back to Aotearoa from London in the 1970s
