A large and impressive semi-antique Northwest Iranian Heriz carpet, circa 1930, hand knotted wool pile on cotton weft and warp, decorated with a large central cruciform medallion patterned with geometric stylized florals on a black ground, surrounded by a soft terra cotta field patterned with serrated edged leaves and rosettes, ivory quadrants, all framed by a broad black ground border decorated with geometric flowering and leafy boughs.
