An exceptional 19th century sea captain's bureau-cabinet of Danish or Swedish origin, constructed of various hardwoods including Honduras and Cuban mahogany and teak which would have been acquired during voyages in the Caribbean and the Pacific. Extraordinary detailed chip carving with many nautical motifs, anchor, cross flags, compass and Pacific Island patterns and inlaid with red coral, mother of pearl and marine ivory, Owners name carved on the bureau fall I.P.L Hoin and dated 1881
