A fine 18th century hei tiki, type II female form well carved in Kahurangi variety stone, face displays small recessed eyes, chin and ear projections with right index finger held to a finely rendered heart-shaped mouth. Well defined three-fingered hands with thumbs held to chest and thigh, intact countersunk suspension hole centered at the top of head. Provenance: Dame Jenny Gibbs collection, 8 cm length.
