A good 18th century taiaha (fighting staff), with finely carved rauponga spirals on arero (tongue). Serrated paua shell eyes (two absent) the collar adorned with red fabric with applied brocade. Tapering shaft with rounded end. Provenance: mark Eglington tribal Art, recently repatriated from America. 189 cm length.
