Description:
19th century mere pounamu (short bladed nephrite weapon), crafted from Kawakawa variety pounamu, thin spatulate blade with translucent edge. The blade tapers to the reduced grip section with countersunk suspension hole terminating in five reducing grooves. Small chips to the blade edge and broken and re-glued together. Provenance: Dame Jenny Gibbs collection. 39 cm length.
