A good 19th century pounamu hei tiki, a good example of the classic type I form. Inanga variety stone with the head tilted to the right. The eye rings are widely recessed with a forehead ridge widening to the nose over the classic heart shaped mouth. The lightly delineated neck widens to unusual markings on the torso. Suspension hole at the top. Provenance: this hei tiki was gifted to George Shasky by Henare potae when he left the freezing works at tokomaru. This hei tiki has remained in the private collection of Goerge Shasky's family. 10 cm length.
