Early 18th century pounamu hei tiki, a rare stone tooled hei tiki carved in the classic type I form made in Kawakawa variety stone. This hei tiki displays two countersunk suspension holes indicating its significant age. The head is oriented to the left with widely recessed eyes, a nasal ridge that extends to the edge of the head, and a single curve for the mouth. Label to the back 'Kaikai Beach.', 9 cm length.
