Akha Lohmi headdress: made from Indian Rupees, 'Fat man Dollars', French Indochinese Piastre coins, 20th century Burmese beads, hand-made silver moon shaped buttons, chains, pendants, tassels, red-dyed chicken hackles and horse hair, circa 1950s. Some Akha remodel their headdresses when the materials age, as shinier is better in their minds. The silver gleams in this, but it is genuinely old and very high grade silver: Approximately 2.5 kilos silver (Indian Rupees): 94.7% pure. Silver (moon shaped 'Buttons'): 90.6% pure. 38 genuine Indian Rupees (George V, 1912 - 1919). 6 genuine Yuan Shi Kai 'Fat man Dollars' (1914 - 1921). 2 genuine French Indochinese 1 Piastre (1898 & 1921). 2 genuine Indian 1/4 Rupees (1919 & 1936). Approximately 3 kg silver weight. 64 cm high. Rare and genuinely old item bought from elderly Akha lady in Chiang Rai, 1989.
