Large Wunda shield, Western Australia. Carved and engraved hardwood and natural pigment. This wunda shield is elongated ovoid form, the front decorated with fluted linear designs divided into five sections to form a zig-zag motif infilled alternately with red and white earth pigments, and black pigment borders, the reverse with fine fluted linear engraving and raised loop handle. Approx length 86.5 x 17 cm. Provenance: Private Collection, United Kingdom. Private Collection, Queensland.
