Description:
Early large throwing club, Gippsland, Victoria. Carved and engraved hardwood. The curving shaft of circular section terminating in bulbous head at the distal ends. With conical section at the proximal end encircled with engraved ridges and pecked markings for gripping, old glossy patina. Approx length 71 x 6 cm. Provenance: Collected by Reverend George Cox Church of England Whilst at Mirboo North Victoria and Port Albert Victoria 1920's. John sharp, Hamilton, Victoria. Private Collection, South Australia.
