Fine 19th century Indian silver jar and cover, of heavy tapering cylindrical form, the pitched cover set with reeded bud finial, the body decorated all over with finely engraved foliate scroll work and raised petalled border encircling the rim and foot, unmarked with gilt wash interior, total weight 809gm, height 21 cm. Provenance: Raja Sir Harnam Singh Ahluwalia, Kcie, member of the Kapurthala Royal Family, then Mr. Balram Singh (a former director of Shaw Wallace & Co., Distillers and international Trading house), then private collection Sydney, thence by descent.
