A signed ivory netsuke of a recumbent ox, Edo period, early 19th century, the powerful ox resting on its four legs with naturalistic powerful expression, the eyes inlaid with black horn, with fine hairwork and skin fold, well engraved and inked, the ivory with good patination, with special attention to the underside carving, typical of later Kyoto-works of oxen after Tomatada, signed to the underside.
