An Ilford medal for first prize awarded to W. J. White Esq. in 1895 in original Bravingtons of Kings Cross, London leather pouch. The presentation of medals and a scholarship of £100 per year for three years sponsored by the Ilford Company, was awarded by the Photographic Society of Great Britain (later the Royal Photographic Society). The awards were short lived as it was considered by the Society to be risky, with a possible taint of 'dealing with the trade'.
