A rare English clockwatch movement by Carter, London, key wound fusee and separate going barrel for the strike, circa 1870. Running, strike works. Ex: Charles Allix & Ass. Cat. No. 1 March 1994 - #127, Carter, John 61 Cornhill, London, 19th century, ¼ striking. English clockwatch movements of any date are unusual. As late as this and this quality they are rare. 4.2 cm. perfect signed enamel dial. £450. Provenance: The private collection of a master watchmaker, purchased from UK dealers for their technical interest.
