An unusual George III period small portable alarum clock, by R. Fletcher, Chester, with white enamel 4 cm dial, Roman numerals, gold hands, fronting a chain-driven fusee verge watch style movement linked to a spring-driven alarm mechanism, the brass rectangular case with sliding shutters to sides and base protecting the movement, the back with alarum dial, wind and maker's signature, (two Robert Fletchers listed in Britten's with dates between 1784-1834), surmounted by a steel bell, height 13 cm
