Very large two handled silver plated tray inscribed Presented to M.W.S.Clarke. Esq, as a msrk of affection and esteem by the members of the Sydney staff both past & present of The Liverpool & London & globe Insurance company, 31 dec 1904. 81 cm across the handles. Provenence: The Clarke Family History of Mordaunt Willam Shipley Clarke, 1833-1918, Mws Clarke – born Longfleet, Dorset, England, 1833, son of the Reverend William Branwhite Clarke – explorer, geologist, called the Father of Australian Geology. 1868 Mws Clarke married Georgina Alice Mann Gam. Gam was the daughter of Gother Kerr Mann and Mary Johanna Hely. Gother Kerr Man was the manager of Cockatoo Island naval dock. Mws Clarke was the Resident Secretary of Liverpool and London and Globe Insurance company until his retirement in December 1904. The silver was presented to Mws Clarke during his service to the company.
