Description:
A stunning pair of George III sterling silver Chippendale pagoda shaped tea caddies in the chinoiserie style. Made by John Marshall of London, circa 1764. Each with fine hand worked repousse decoration to the side panels, including a female tea picker with a donkey, urns and floral displays, rococo cartouche and a seated female reading a scroll in a garden. The pediment tops decorated in the Chippendale manner with thatched caps and a floral finials. Similar floral finials mount the corners with gadrooning to the edges and splayed foliate feet. One fitted for sugar cubes, the other for tea. 17 cm high, 746 grams total
