Maori hand club (tewhatewha), New Zealand. Carved and engraved hardwood and feathers. Tewhatewha with short shaft and wide blade at top. At bottom of blade, two bundles of feathers through a hole in the blade. Carved tiki element end of shaft with paua eyes, length 32.5 x 15 cm. Provenance: John Cordy Ltd, New Zealand.
