A fine Burmese openwork ivory Stupa. Myanmar, early 19th century, the finial in the form of a bell-shaped stupa, carved from a single piece of ivory except for the parasol finial, enshrining an image of a seated Buddha in the witness position behind a very intricate openwork veil of scrolling foliate tendrils, raised on a circular pedestal base.
