Meiji period 1868-1912 the early Japanese Kutani bowl, in iron red and gold palette, depicting lotus flowers, foliage and branches on bone colour crackle glaze, cartouche bordered by gilt and enamelled foliage and decoration with ho-o birds, the outer rim with three cloud shaped floral cartouches; red 'Kutani made' four characters mark underside.
