Description:
A fine and rare Edo period Sage-Jubako (picnic set) by Shunso the rectangular frame containing a four-tiered jubako (food container) and two lacquer tokkuri (sake bottles) in a box-stand. The upper section with a small drawer containing five lacquer trays beside an open compartment with a larger matching tray. The black lacquer ground decorated in gold hiramaki-e with maple leaves. Complete with a black lacquer carrying case. Provenance: Gilbertson collection, sold at Cordys auctions in 1974, Rex and Marion Jennings collection
